car is a E220 coupe. Some idiot has just hit my drivers side mirror and smashed the glass and put the whole thing out of kilter, i can adjust up only to a certain limit but this is not enough to see back i.e. the whole thing is pointing about three notches down, is there a simple way of adjusting the electric mechanism by taking it apart without having to replace the whole thing at vast cost, I cannot find any screws to undo or a simple way of of undoing the damn thing

Just give it a little push on the glass and you should hear the rachets jumping - don't come crying to me if it comes off in your hand though.............

I did that as soon as it happened and although it went "klick, klick, klick, when i used the mirror againg it stayed where it originally was, i.e. pointing down at the ground.
