I decided to take two wheels off my c class estate today, to recce the brakes in preperation for changing the discs and pads. The front came off no probs. The back was a different kettle of fish! It wouldn't come off, for love nor money.... Took all the bolts out, released the parking brake, still nothing....I wasn't that heavy handed in trying to get it off as the car was on the emergency jack thats supplied.

Should the rear wheel easily come off, like the front? Does it take a bit of an effort or am i missing something entirely!?

They SHOULD come off fairly easily.. I normally remove the bolts, and then give the top of the tyre a bit of a kick if they're being stubborn. Might be helpful to leave the handbrake (parking brake!) on for this!

The face of the alloy wheel, where it meets the steel hub, corrodes & can make it very difficult to remove the wheel, especially if they have not been off for a couple of years. I always put a thin coat of "Copper Slip" on before fitting and next time, the wheels fall off after removing the bolts.

In the past I've had to resort to hitting the inside of the wheel with a rubber or wooden mallet before the wheel would budge. Best not done on an emergency jack though.

Yes either whack the tyre with a long length of wood (heavy) or just slacken off the bolts, and drive around a bit. the hub centric face of the wheels do or can corrode, as aove a little grease will stop this
