it works great! This unit was ordered from The Benz Store for $135 plus $45 core (refunded) and $15 2-day shipping (ground is around $8 so screw the difference ). Look under Rebuilt then make sure you pick the right one part number. www.benz-store.com
A few things about the unit:
First, it came with an advisory about testing the ohms between pins 1 and 5 on the plug (not the ICU but the plug that attaches to it) (engine-OFF, no key in ignition, and ICU disconnected). This tests the idle control solenoid. They stated for Euro models from 1981 to 1985 it should be between 3.5 and 4.5 ohm. For older Euro and US models from 1981 to 1985 it should be between 8 and 12 ohms. This might be the simplest test yet to know if your idle speed solenoid is working correctly. If it is frozen it will either read higher or lower I imagine. Of course if you don't have a meter your out of luck (but they are cheap and might be barrowed at some autoparts stores or garages for cheap).
Second, the unit comes with a potentiometer (sp?) (adjustable resistor) that allows adjusting engine idle rpm up or down. This is located on the bottom of the unit. I was worried it would get bumped and go wacky but it requires a lot of turns to change so its not really a concern. I might adjust mine down a tad so I am gratefull to have it.
Overall I am really happy with the unit. The price and features are far better than anyone else. Many thanks to TonyB for pointing them out!
