Recall eCall vehicle position

I had a letter today from MB Milton Keynes saying I was the last known keeper of our SLC250d, which is correct. It says it requires a software update which can be done over air, but I can decline if I wish.
What I find strange is we have owned the car for 14 months & it has had the last 2 services done by MB, & its on a service contract. Surely a quick search on their servicing database would have found us, or is this as a result of data protection issues?
Finally is anyone aware of any issues with this software update?

The last time MB contacted me to make an appointment for the overdue Emissions Update, I responded with conditions to be met if I agreed to have the update which were;

1. Diagnostics read and published before any work carried out on car.
2. Diagnostics read and published immediately prior to handover back to customer after completion of works.
3. A 12 Month comprehensive warranty on all Emissions mitigating components and related sensors.

And not surprisingly, that was the last I ever heard from them!

I had a letter yesterday also about my Old GLE (17 plate) that Mercedes had back at the beginning of January saying it needs an update.
