:confused: just been told by local mechanic that when i fitted the new air mass and the other throttle body the car needed to be recoded to these units is this right????

Not to my knowledge either.

MAF is definitely plug and play and the throttle body again just communicates by voltage and resistance so I can't see how you would code it.
