EDIT: Can somebody recommend a body shop in London that they have personally used.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So,
I just called around a local body shop to quote for the rust issues on my SL.
Please keep in mind the metal hasn't corroded through and the rust seems mainly surface based. There are also two very small corner spots on boot corner and roof line with some minor bubbling.
The technician said that they would have to paint the entirety of each quarter panel and also the boot, due to the fact that you can't match metallic paint.
He has quoted 150 per quarter panel and 150 for the boot, and would throw in the roof line.
Seems like a "pretty good deal" to me, too good in fact.
He told me you can't partially paint a panel when it's metallic that the "line" would eventually come through. For that kind of money, there is no way that he is going to paint 3 large panels.
What do you think?
P.S. Am I correct in saying that you can paint a partially metallic painted panel? Is it not possible to feather, wet sand and polish the entire panel for a decent finish?
