Hello all, hope you all had a pleasant festive period. Happy New Year.

I am needing to get some sort of breakdown recovery service for my clk430 and am curious as to people's opionions of Green Flag, RAC and AA??

I am in Scotland if that helps with coverage

Depending on the MB Service History of your car you may be covered by MB's own breakdown and recovery service.
I can only talk in the highest terms of the service offered by MB Mobilo, I have had to call them twice, both times efficient and reasonably quick. If they can't repair your vehicle they provide you with an equivalent until they can.

In the summer they gave us a brand new S Class for a week whilst waiting for parts from Germany in order to continue our holiday. Our vehicle is coming up for six years old with over 80,000 miles on the clock.

The AA are fine with good coverage nationally, but if your car is complicated (like MB) then they only seem interested in relaying you home or to the nearest garage for repairs, and of course you still have the problem.

My car has a full Mercedes SH but was an import when new (full UK spec though). Not sure if MB would cover a 5 year old car

I could of course be wrong but I think in Scotland the RAC offer slightly better coverage. I have only had to use them twice in more years than I care to remember but on both occasions their response and service was impeccable.
M6AJJ has a point regarding MB complexity in most cases, and though I don't consider mine to come into that category I do pay a little more of a premium so I can have the car recovered to my home garage rather than a MB dealership, for purely financial reasons!
I also noted that 'Motability Operations' who are huge and lease many thousands of vehicles of all descriptions employ them on their customers' behalf, so if they're good enough for them that would do do me!
