red and green lights

anyone any idea what can cause my 1996 e300 diesel to refuse to start and flash the red and green lights at me when i leave it for just a few minutes but its ok if i leave it for a few hours?

hi on my c200 it was a dying battery

My C200 does this too, but locking and unlocking the car again seems to fix it. I don't know if it's got anything to do with the alarm, which is MB approved according to stickers on the windows but seems to be retrofit (it has no instructions).

thanx for the advice but as it refused to start on me indefinately i had to bite the bullit and take it to mercedes!
Turned out to be the voltage regulator,had it replaced all ok now :smile:
