The 'red' BATT warning light occasionally flicks on and then goes out at higher revs (2500+) but never below 2500. The higher the revs the more it is likely to show. Strangely enough it happens less when the sidelights are on and even less with headlamps. No problem with the battery. Anyone have a clue?

simple but ussually costly

Id think its something with your alternator. First check the brushes and then get the voltage regualator tested.

good luck

The mileage is low for a worn out alternator, but it would be worth checking the connections are all tight as it sound like engine viabration may be playing a part in this.
