It’s not stopping, what you can use it for has been restricted further though.

That's going to add about £8k to my business costs :( :( On the positive side, I won't need to drive to the local filling station any more :)

Probably going to add the same if not more to my business, ill thought out plan in my opinion that could see many small firms go to the wall.

It always was an anomaly to suit mainly farmers.

Costs though for big plant operators (amongst others) will rise hugely.

What a lot of people don't realise is that the Government are saying that not only do we have to stop using red "going forward", but we can't use up any supplies we are left holding. It has to be disposed of. In addition, all fuel tanks, fuel lines, filters, etc have to be cleaned/replaced in order to eradicate any trace of red. All on pain of huge fines :(

The cost of running the machinery used for my business will virtually double.
That money has to come from somewhere.
Business is hard enough without some muppet in London deciding to move the goal posts.

I didn't realise you had to clear the stuff out.

I had visions of operators buying huge tanks.

What do they mean by disposing of it and how?

It gets worse!

Just phoned my red diesel supplier to order my first delivery of white and their price is actually 15% higher than my local filling station?????

Someone hasn't thought this through :(

If farmers can remove the red dye from diesel then I'm sure someone in the supply chain can provide a solution and adjust the tax element accordingly? Who in their right mind is going to throw good diesel away today? Are there any Chemists on the forum, there's a business opportunity here?

You can filter it out, however there is still a "tell" that HMRC can easily check to ascertain if it was Red diesel originally

Yes, that's why I'm suggesting "someone in the supply chain can provide a solution and adjust the tax element accordingly"
HMRC are naïve in their belief that businesses are going to 'dispose' of such a costly commodity and they should at the very least buy it back and dispose of it themselves!
