I went in the garage this morning to re-set the clock on the C class for the time change. I wondered why it had a smug look. It had only gone and re-set itself.
I gave it a polish anyway, it still needs me for that.

Started mine up this morning to go for some shopping, and watched with joy as the clock went back one hour automatically.

It always amuses me, but then so do a lot of small things! ;)

sad though it is I had been really looking forward to exactly that - but it steadfastly refused to change - turns out the date was wrong:(

ah - so I'm not the only one! I raised this some time ago and nobody else seemed to have this happen. My Dads doesn't do it.
So when does it actually go back. I intended to watch it yesterday morning but forgot (again!). Does it happen mysteriously overnight, or when you put the key in?

Mine was at the correct time when I opened the door, before putting the key in. So, it must have changed itself at 2 in the morning I presume.

Ahaaaa
That would imply that it works on the date. I figured it was either the date, the VHF signal, or the RDS time signal. It rules out RDS as the radio was off.

Oddly though, aside from the one time after they replaced the cluster, in 2 years, I have never had to touch the clock. It's always bang on to the pips. The clock on my 210 needed resetting every 6 weeks as it crept forward, but the 211 one is always spot on.

So, either it is radio controlled or it's extremely accurate.

I suspect the latter as the dealer set it a couple of mins out and I left it for 2 days to see if it came right. It didn't.

My W211 is set from the Comand, although I had to alter the time myself (Shock horror). It was fun to watch the analogue clock rewind though :)
In the manual it does say that the clock is set by the comand and that comand sets itself automatically. However I haven't found that option as yet.

I'm having enough trouble at the moment trying to check the oil level without either a dipstick or the menu item... :-(

Perhaps not. Had not used the car all weekend so having read this thread, decided to note when the time changed. The clock changed when the key was turned to position 2. Maybe different systems depending on year/model?
