Yesterday the wheels were refurbed whilst the car is in having stone chips etc sorted out. The Mobile refurb bloke took my beautiful 5 hole lightwweight alloys and SPRAYED THEM ****** SILVER

So bad was the result that thowner of the coachworks company called me thuis lunchtime and asked me to look at them!
You can still see when the old lacquer was on the bolt recesses leaving a ridge and the old glue from old weights on the inner rim.. I was apoplectic as I regard the wheels as being one of the major asthetics of my car...

Needless to say I am not paying and they are going to have to be taken back to the metal and done properly

perhaps you would like to name them so we know who they are.

since you know what their workmanship is like, if i was you , i would get a refund, some goodwill and go elsewhere.

The guy is called Simon I think trades around North Cambs / Lincs as "The Wheel Man" I have not paid him and have instructed the coachworks body shop not to pay him either....

Yes they are the same, Diamond turned, If you can wait till you come down with your instrument cluster you can see my V70 chrome painted wheels.

The clear laquar does not last on the diamond turned wheels + they can only be done once at £380.

I'll look forward to it. Can you send me your details PM by the way so I can find my way?

When you say done once do you mean that I'll be able to have them done and then never again? Why is that? £90 a wheel is what I sort of expected...

The reason why they can only be done once is that the rim that holds the tyre becomes too thin, and is a safety issues, you would also be better off by putting a radius on the face edge of the wheel bolt holes, the sharp edge is a weak point.

Radius = rim round the edge?

Are these available or do you simply add some sort of setting laquer or varnish on the edge? Sorry to sound like such a Numpty

Looking
You can have them relaquered if it peels (which they will do hence they only off a 6 month warranty on that type of finish) providing you haven't kerbed them.

It is the sharp 90 deg edge of the bolt holes where the lacquer comes away first, my idea would be to have the edge of the holes rounded off.

A small cost in respect of the re furbishing cost.

Always ask, if not any machine shop could do it on a pedistall drill. just an idea as that is the weak spot on these wheels, that includes the small holes as well.

It could be done with a hand held tool, only soft alli.
