Hello all,

I've seen some horror stories about remaps, especially to do with fuel rail pressure sensors and torque converters in these cars.

Is it worth doing or is it asking for trouble?
Is it worth potentially invaliding the 3 year warranty I got with the car when I bought it a few weeks ago, are the performance gains really that good?

On the balance of it, what would you do?

2015 C250 Sport Automatic (W205).

The gearbox can handily 700 torque I'm told, what can the torque converter handle safely?

I'm down south so GAD in Essex is about a 2 hour drive away, they seem to be the most commonly recommended on here historically, is that still correct?

Fairly sure a call to Gad would of answered all your questions.

Is it worth invalidated a 3 year warranty made me chuckle. Thanks for that.

Expect gains of 44 BHP and 55 nm. Not alot tbh.

Horses for courses.

If something goes kapput because of the upgrade it will certainly cost more than the price of the upgrade and the entire warranty is void, regardless if related to the upgrade or not. Your call.

Not a fan of re maps myself. Would rather get the right powered car in the first place. Just my tuppence.

There's potential in everything but how much of the stability and traction control systems reign it in could be lots .

Before and after dyno results are conducted in Mercedes dyno mode , out on the road what is it really letting you have and when .

I'd look also into accelerator pedal developer coding and torque limiters coding .

I’ve not had a 250 but with regards to remaps,
2 of my cars have been mapped/modified for about 11 years now! and the others are standard. They are rather different being a 1998 Volvo S70R and a 1994 UK Supra Turbo or as I call it, built by proper engineers using granite. On these history has shown serious issues when people tuned these in the crude/cheapest way or using questionable tuners. Anyone who tuned these correctly inline with the tried and tested recommendations had no issues.

Simply put remaps can be done well or badly! I would only consider an experienced and specialist tuner not, someone who claims to map any make and model for £250. So GAD and MSL seem to be the MB specialists from what I’ve seen here. Secondly I would want to know really what the limitation and how much scope the existing parts have in them, eg are gearboxes, fuel pumps, injectors and turbos etc etc running close to their limits or not. This is never easy or quick to find out. Some stuff is more highly strung than others out of the factory. I would personally echo a statement made above by another member which, is buy the faster model or a faster car in the first place, without wanting to sound disrespectful to the 250.

If it was a brand new car, I’d not personally entertain invalidating the warranty. If it’s an older car with a typical used car warranty even from a main dealer, in my opinion it’s worthless and it’s best to be buying a mechanically sound car in the first place and using the consumer/trade laws as the warranty.
