The 1990 124 300TE I bought last week only came with two keys. It has a MB alarm but I have no idea how to set it. I have received an e-mail from the previous owner that there may have been a remote fob that went with the car but it is now lost. My question is, how can I tell whether there is remote central locking/alarm fitted to the car? The owners handbook indicate a receiver in the drivers door handle but I can't see anything there. I have checked the Russian parts site but there doesn't appear to be anything on there (security presumably).

One way to check if it is enabled by central locking is to open the door with the emergency key. That sets my alarm off! If it does go ordd, you can disable it again by either shoving the key in the ignition or pressing the key's 'open' button.

I don't have an emergency key. Just two ignition keys. On my 1993 E220, the alarm goes off when I reconnect the battery earth cable but not on this car. Therfore, I assume that it either doesn't work or it has been disabled and needs to be activated by a remote sender but how can I tell?

these were retrofitted with alarms at the dealers after they left the factory by tge dealers.

ususally using a scorpion 618 system, black rectangular fob, with two square buttons at the top and a red led in the upper rhs.

do a search for w124 alarm or scorpion on the forum
