Managed To Snap The Key Part In The Doorlock(extracted Since) Of 124 Estate, Blame The Weather . It's The 'jack-knife' Type Key With Infra Red Remote And I Have Been Quoted £124(ironic) By Harrogate Merc. Dealers To Replace . Any Good Ideas /sources Of Cheaper Alternatives.have A Spare Non Functioning Remote With The Blade So Can Still Operate Car And Now Realise The Value Of Getting Them Both Repaired/transplanted /replaced. Any Good Tips,
Bolide To The Rescue?!?

WRONG THREAD?? ELECTRICS OR BODYWORK NOT SURE HOW I ENDED UP HERE

Key problem

If you've got one functioning remote with a broken key, and one non-functioning remote with a good key, then it sounds like cannibalisation time!

I've seen something on the web showing a remote cut open. But I don't think this will help. I think you need to transplant the key & hinge to the good remote

Cut open the non-functioning remote key & find out how to extract the key. Then butcher the good remote to add key

Or add remote to keyring with standard passenger door key...

Or pay £120! Or haggle with the nice parts man - he wants your custom!

Good luck!

If you do what nick says, when you glue it back together use plastic pipe solvent (plumber merchants) its the only one that melts the plastic, try and keep the cut/ join under presure.

Thanks fellas & for the solvent tip . I'll report the outcome as I'm sure many others will have/be facing the same issue. Kind regards
