hi, I have a 2002 C220 cdi coupe, WDB203706 love the car but have encountered a problem with the electric windows. The ability to open and close the windows and sunroof via the key outside the car has stopped. this function did work since i got the car but has recently stopped. M Benz have had it on the diagnostics but cant identify the problem, anyone had the same issue and any advice.

The remote opening is via the IR part of the key, you need to be close to the drivers door (or pax as well if it has the IR receiver in it) and hold the open button. Have you tried the other key as well? & have you tried it from both sides of the car?

you have to have the key more or less touching the sensor on the driver's door, keep the open or closed button pressed DO NOT RELEASE THIS BUTTON the windows SHOULD then open or close:confused:

I have found if the voltage in the battery drops below 12V, lots of town running will do this, the easy opening feature is shut down and will not work, presumably to conserve battery power.

Sounds like the sensor in the door handle has given up. It happened to me a couple of years ago, not too expensive, from what I remember about £30, but has to be ordered specifically for the car.

i mentioned that to MB and they were adament that my car didn't have a sensor in the handle, eventhought there is the small glass square in the handle where u would expext the sensor to be. I'll try taking the handle off to see if there is any sensor wired into the handle.

Mine stopped working ages ago. I took the door handle out and found the wires to be broken. way too short to be reconnected, so it's been on my to do list ever since.

I've thought about re-soldering them but never got round to it. Also, I've been wondering if i could get a replacement from the scrappie or whether it needed to be programmed to my key. You sure about it needing to be ordered specifically M6AJJ?

To remove the handle if i remember rightly there's just a hex bolt, maybe 2 in the side edge of the door. once this is out the handle should come away quite easily. Yes, It is the little square glass thing, well plastic anyway. and it just pops out once the handle has been removed. I also remember, if you aren't careful when removing the handle then you could lose the hex bolt down between the door skins.
