Hi......i Have Just Purchased A 1996 E300d And Only Got The One Remote Key (metal Key Flicks Out) And This Only Has The One Button That Turns Off Alarm/immobiliser (red/green Lights In Interior Mirror)........my Neighbour Use To Have 2000 A-class And Recently Found One Of The Spare Keys Which He Gave To Me....the Only Difference Between His Key And Mine Is He Has Two Buttons One Showing A Lock Locked And The Other Showing A Lock Opened. Would It Be Possible To Have His Key Re-programmed So I Could Use It As A Spare........(but I Would Still Have To Get A Compatible Metal Key)

I very much doubt it. They are completely different and I believe the 2 button unit also has a radio component.

a new one button "KEY" is £145.00 + VAT =£195.00 from a merc dealership (sept 2008) and its the same price at them all ,i know i have phoned around, you would think as the cars get older that the price would fall!!! my e300 diesel is 12 years old..
