I would like to replace my complete ignition switch for a push button starter and a rocker switch hidden to switch the ignition on/off.
Any one done this or knows how to do it?
Its a w126 560

In principle its not too difficult - but you'll need a heavy switch. Just put a tester across the existing switch and duplicate it's functionality. Don't know the 560 but most system are live in, accessory out, ignition out and starter out. But why?

Sorry - slightly off-topic - having lost my keys  I need to remove the switch barrel from my W124. It appears to be fairly straightforward, using a piece of bent wire......but the barrel first needs to be turned to position 1 using the key! Can anyone please suggest an alternative means of removing the barrel - or the whole lock, if necessary, without the key??

Just worth a mention that you might invalidate your insurance cover by eliminating the ignition key.
