Removing Distronic on 01 S600

The system never worked for me in 4 years of driving. I get External Malfunction and Clean Sensor always all the time in all weather. I assume that I will get an error message if I just remove the sensor. So, is there a way to downgrade the car to good old cruise control no radar no nothing. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Have you had the error codes read with STAR?

It will require STAR to code out the option anyway.

I imagine there is no way to downgrade the system as you ask because the components for the two options are different

get it on STAR and find out what is wrong with the distronic system you have, it may be something simple required to get it functioning again

I would not try and remove it, it could just be the front head at fault, STAR should be able to tell what is wrong. You cannot program much on these things, but the head can be changed.

If STAR shows a defunct sensor they are available on eBay, not cheap though
