I've managed to get a spare bottom for the extra seats in the rear of my W124 230 TE. Its not the same colour, but I suspect it will never be on show.

I have had a quote to use a piece of fabric off the original extra seat base and repair the drivers seat bolster.

Its cheaper if I remove and replace the seat cover.

Has anyone got any tips and tricks for the removal and refitting process?

TIA

Tony

All seat covers are held on by clips or wires, it is a matter of undoing them and then the cover just comes off.

When re fitting do be sure that the foam is in the right place, as once you have re clipped it down you will not be able to correct it,, so just that little extra time checking this point

Yes plenty,,:D its just that seats have not changed much over the last 50 years. I stress the importance of getting the foam right as there is nothing you can do other than by taking it apart again to correct it

Result.

Clearly the replacement material has not faded, but its a lot tidier than it was.

Total cost £30 including removing and replacing the seat cover - it wasn't quite as easy as Malcolm had made it out to be - I found two screws at the back rear then gave up!

Also the padding is fibre and was all in very good condition.

Very well done, it the most likely area to get worn as it rubs against the back pocket button. I have to cut off all my back pocket buttons.

Where do you get the spare, if you don't mind I asked and I need this done on my W202 but in black?

My drive way is on a steep slope as everywhere in Lyme Regis and the car faces up hill, this puts a big strain on the bolster part of the seat when getting in and out, so I treat the the side bolster to keep it soft and re colour it.
