The ChipsAway people were at my local supermarket at the weekend and quoted a very reasonable price (£50+VAT) for removing the stone chips on the front of my A-Class(10 chips)  While they said it isn't perfect, they 'say' its very good.

Does anyone have any experience of their product, as a re-spray of the bonnet will cost rather more.

TIA
Neil

All Mercedes waterbased paintwork is substandard in comparison to the old leadbased, its simply too thin & subject to embrittlement.
If you get it resprayed by MB franchise it will simply chip again. 3M plastic tape is visible but prevents 95% of further damage if applied to leading edges of frontal areas.Archives have details of the tape.

another product you can buy, allows you to smooth out the "blobs" of paint, that most of us seem to end up with, after our stone chip repair.

The product is called Langka, and if you search on that name, it will take you to the site.

They have an overseas mail service, and if t\you follow their instructions, it will do a good job.

It is used in conjunction with normal touch up paint, but do not touch up the paint, until the Langka arrives.

Thanks for that - MB want mega bucks to re-spray the bonnet.

All I want to know is whether ChipsAway are a reputable company/franchise and has anyone had anything done by them?

Having tried touch up paint before, I don't want to make a pigs ear of it twice, no matter what the product promises I'll be able to do.

After that, I've decided on ArmourFend.

TIA

Hi
Do try the
Langka
http://www.langka.com/

I have used this in the Ford Dealer ship I used to work for its a wonder product..... no it realy is

All you have to do is use a normal touch up pen/brush
(which always leave a blob over the chip)
when the touch up is dry you just put some langka on a good highdensity sponge and wipe over the touch up to remove the 'blob' ... the result is ****** good......

Well, I'm going for ChipsAway as the $19.95 + tax + time and effort will be better than me screwing it up and wifey denying the conjugals for a month as punishment (it's her car).

The armourFend is booked in in a few weeks, so will let you all know then.  I seem to be the 'tester'!

Errh yeah....we're all right behind you old bean !!

ArmourFend has been mentioned a few times in this forum but I've yet to hear from anyone who's had it done or seen the results.  Their web-site isn't the most informative.

Good luck.

I have a lovely cupholder sitting on my shelf for an a class , it site just below the stereo and has space for 4 cd's

It cost me about £60  and i only had it in my car for about 8  months or so, if you want it you can have it for 30 plus postage.

Hi Fuzzer,
I am looking for the CD holder to go in the space below my new CD player.

Been cruising the web looking for one for a week.

Would you be willing to let me have it on the same deal, please?

E-mail me?

TIA

Nige.

Fuzzer

I'm checking with wifey - If she doesn't want it then it's all Ballacraines - I'll check back on Monday.  I'm assuming it's for the new A-Class, not the old one....

A Class bonnet can be sprayed for about 100-120 + VAT

Hi,
Did you get far with the ChipsAway people? Looking at their site I'm none the wiser about how they claim to do this, so I'd be interested to get your feedback.

Does your car have metallic paint?

Groovy. Thanks, fuzzer. Did you watch how they did it? Did they use real paint, or some fancy filler/ polish/ horse manure? Was their repair long ago? Has it lasted OK?

TIA
