removing softop for winter 107 SL

Last year was my first in owning a r107 SL. Despite carerfully folding down the soft top and using the hard top between november and may there were still siginificant hazing effects on the plastic windows, especially the corners when i removed the hardtop in may. Do any 107 owners remove the soft top in winter? (as the owners manual recommends!) and if so is it an easy job?

I never remove the soft top but i make sure its been well dried out ie in the garage for at least 3 days.
