Hi guys I have done a search but cannot find any thing.

Does anyone have step by step instructions preferably with pictures on how to remove the fascia of my W203 (pre facelift) to fit a dashmount car phone bracket. It seems so beautifully screwed together and I would hate to damage anything.

Many thanks

Jacob

Yep the instructions can be found here; http://www.buellwinkle.com/Comand/COMANDWIS.pdf

You will need a small flat screwdriver to prise the tabs back a bit, a torch to see the screws behind the air vent, a Torx 20 screwdriver and a couple of plastic or wooden wedges.

Start by removing the air vents. Be very careful with the tabs that release the vents so you can reach the Torx screws behind. If they snap then its very difficult to get the vents out. See the document. Loosen the screws, dont try and remove them.

Once out, remove the gear knob by gently prising the surround up from the centre console with the wooden/plastic wedges. Once off, gently prise up the wooden/aluminium trim which encircles the gear selector and the trinket tray.

Remove the ash tray carefully (see document). You then need to either unclip the two clips under the heating controls or remove the two screws (depends on model).

The trim will then easily come away. Disconnect the heating control wires but not the cable that goes to the hazard light switch panel as you will generate an error which can only be cleared by a STAR machine.

Whole thing should take circa 5 - 10 minutes. Reassembly it the reverse of the disassembly.

Easy!;)
