Not too tricky here, remove the two screws on the underside of the wood trim panel where the heater controls are, and pull off the heater knobs. and the blower control knob - they all pull straight off with pliers (use a cloth to prevent marking).
The three spindles will be secured with thin nuts. Undo these with aforementioned pliers. MB do special 0.4W bulbs for the knobs themselves, frosted to reduce their brightness. They sit in the hollow spindles. But ordinary wire-ended bulbs work fine. I got mine from an old Jag instrument panel, the sort that sit in plastic bayonet-fitting holders. You can just cannibalise those for the bulbs, or even go to a motor factor to buy some bulbs...
Anyway, the fan control switch and escutcheon and the circular surrounds for the heater knobs are lit by light being ducted around by reflection in a plastic moulding, the bulbs are in the left and centre heater control surrounds I think. (Poor memory)
Just pull out all the old bulbs, replace them all, false economy to leave any old ones in, you'll only have to open it up again in a month or so... Reassembly is a reversal of the above, easy peasy. 20 minutes for the whole job.
