Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me how to replace the battery in this key fob (car flashed up warning on dash)?

Car is 2015 with push button start (no need to insert key).

I know I could Google it, but trying to find the correct key/year and in English might prove tricky. Whereas I'm sure someone here will know straight away.

TIA

Hi

Take out the emergency key (the part which attaches the fob to your key ring) by sliding the clip to one side. Turn the emergency key over in your hand and reinsert it into the slot next to where it came out. Twist/lever GENTLY and the back of the fob will lift off. Remove and replace battery. The back of the fob then pushes back into place.

My '09 key looks the same but the back doesn't come off...

Once you remove the metal key, use that to press the grey holding lever (the one that holds the metal key in place) and then you can slide out the key internals and replace the 2 x CR2025 batteries.

Later ones have 1 x CR2025 and the back of the key comes off

When I first got my ML I wanted to swap batteries in each fob to prove a fault. I spent ages trying to remove the battery cos I assumed it'd be the same as the 07 R Class. You Tube is your friend!

This is something we discovered at the heritage museum I seem to recall!
