Please, look at the old and new alarms to find out who manufactures this alarm. Any info will be appreciated. Not yet, will have to wait until the weekend now, I'm pretty confident it will fix the problem though.
Its a good shout although I'm not sure if it is a moisture related problem, my understanding is that the batteries inside the unit start to break down over time its the acid that then kills the PCB. I know its a really common problem on lots of 15-20 year old Mercs. The unit is not in an especially vulnerable location on the ML either its tucked away under the scuttle below the wiper assembly.I would be consideruing at getting some sika around the joints on that. but then again the cost of sika is not cheap fot the amount you would use.
It may be they are not super sealed as they need to let heat out.
Considering they last a good amount of time, I probably would just replace makiing sure any potential openings in the device are facing down/away from areas of potential dirt/moisture ingress.
