Replacement Alternator

I have a 1999 C250TD with a 90 amp valeo alternator that needs replacing. Having looked around the valeo is a bit of a rarity. dose anyone know of an alternative that will fit. I have seen a few van alternators that look simiilar. Is it ok to use a higher output ampage?
