Replacement Key Fob

Evening All,

Back for a little more advice.

I need a additional key fob - car only came with one - have spoken to MB and £200 will sort one out. MB have stated key fobs are chassis specific and will only work with the cars they were supplied with.

Was, however, wondering is it at all possible to obtain a 2nd hand one, say from eBay and get it "re-programmed" so it can work with my car?

Not really holding out much hope on this one, but hey if you don't ask you'll never know.

I know of a firm in North Kent that is able to purchase keys at a discount and code them to your vehicle, providing you have the relevant paperwork.

I'm in Ramsgate, down on the coast in East Kent - where all that timber has just been washed up.

Getting to North Kent is no great shakes so would be interested - I presume you mean I'd need the V5C - yes have that.

HI I have recently got a W208 CLK and need a spare FOB, I can get to Kent if the price is ok.. Also I have seen uncoded FOBs on Ebay (but it looks like the new w211 E-Class one), will this work if it can be programmed by Merc?

Agreed - in my innocence, I went with an eBay-purchased key. They laughed. I blushed. I sold it on (for a profit ) 50 Euros in Spain. New key. Dealership. No fuss. Result.
