replacement key fobs

I inadvertently left my only key in the boot over the week end and had to call the RAC out to extract them. Is there a cheaper way of obtaining a duplicate key for my 1999 C Class than paying some exhorbitant amount from the MB main dealer? I appreciate the security aspect but would be appreciated if somebody out there could help

not that im aware of, theyre MB only and you need proof of ID and ownership etc to get 1 supplied. i priced 1 as i just have 1 key for my car. last year they were about £160 and ive heard that theyre now almost £200 each.

its as Turbopete says, all makers now charge around the £200 price mark for replacements

It is getting to the point that one should demand at least £200 off a second hand car if it only has one key. Better still get the seller to buy one before you commit to purchase. Having only one key could be a serious and expensive problem.

agreed. ive almost locked mine in the boot on more than one occasion! mainly coz i can release the boot without having to unlock the car! and i dont have to physically lock the boot again with the key! old habits die hard!
