My wife has misplaced her keys and I have just been quoted £82 + Vat for a flip key for a 98 slk, does anyone know wether this is the best route or should I get an uncut one off ebay?
I assume that you still have a key for the car and need a spare, also this is the quote from the dealer.
I went this route when we bought our SLK cos it didnt come with a spare. The cost was similar to yours and worked perfectly. The dealer had to do a bit of wizardry with both the old and new keys to program the new one. The cost seems high but do you really want to go the Ebay route? Its also worth noting that if you dont have a working spare you are totally stuffed and this is not an MB thing, keys cost lots of money for all modern cars
I had to buy a replacement key for my 98' SLK, and it was about £80. You will need your registration document, and drivers licence or passport. It took 2 days from the stealership, and the nice man progammed it for me. It works perfectly
