Has anybody had to do this job?

I've found the part number - A1718202526 but don't fancy paying over £100 quid for it.

I'm just wondering what other cars this unit is in which might help me in finding a breaker with one.

From an ebay ad it looks like { W220 W215 W230 W211 } (?)

Thanks
Conor

Are you referring to the alarm module ??

They have internal batteries that eventually give up or corrode so an older one may not be the best way ahead long term..

Hi Conor, I had to replace the alarm siren/module on the 350, really no option but to fit an OEM part, think it was £105 from Grangemouth Mercedes, I would give ebay a miss if I were you, way too much fake Chinese rubbish.

most of the mercs have the same unit as far as I know. Similar to the above I changed mine on the E55 for a new one, get one from the breakers and it will be a gamble.

For the sake of £100....

Just had mine replaced by an indie - was around £100 for the siren. I had no idea it was faulty - to be honest I wasn't even aware the car had an alarm - but it came up on scan of the car while in for an ABS fault.

Bit of a discussion on the other forum about it and the general consensus was I was a bit mad having it replaced, most would have just pulled the plug and taped it up.

It now gently chirps on lock and unlock!

I took a chance on an e bay 2nd hand unit for my W163, cost was £15.
Three years later, still working as it should.

NOTE. On the W163 its under the wiper motor area, lots of dismantling to get to it, so i extended the wires out into the engine bay, made a small bracket, and fitted it in the engine bay, upside down !, means acid from batteries drains out, not onto the unit. Easy mod and would now take about 3 mins to change the thing if i have to.
