Replacement speedometer for 300TE 4-matic

Does anyone know if there are two different speedometers for the 300E/TE series cars (W124) -a 4-matic version and a non-4-matic version?

I replaced the speedometer on my 1990 300 TE 4matic about a year ago. I'm just now realizing that the new speedometer doen't have the 4-matic indicator light. The MB dealer claims that this is the only speedometer available for the 1990 model.

Has anybody changed their speedometer on a 4-matic? Did the new one have the indicator light (it's a triangle with an exclamation point inside and comes on when first starting the car and when the 4-matic activates)?

I'm not entirly sure but I think the lights across the bottom have a mask covering those not required you need the mask out of you old cluster to fit to new cluster ( these just slide in from either side of the cluster)

The spedometer is the similar to that used on the G-wagens, which has the central warning trianglr to indicate that you have turned off ABS or that you have engaged the diff-locks.

Try another dealer and see if they can check the part number again. I guess that they have ordered the wrong/standard one by mistake.

Hi

If you still have the old speedo, you will find there is a part number written in white in small letters. This is the info you will need. If not, try another dealer. You don't have to visit them, just phone them with the chassis number. They should be able to sort if from there.
