I've recently bought a 560 SEC 1988 and am having difficulty finding suitable replacement tyres-have been told by MB Brentford that none of the necessary speed rating for this model currently available. Can anyone help? Size of tyres: 215/65 ZR15 CZ90.

Try these people. I bought mine from them - highly recommended.

Give these people a try. They even beat mytyres on price and what's more they will come and fit them where and when you want.

Even though they came from Manchester (they also have a fitting branch in the south) they saved me about £40 per tyre for my 210 when compared to my local dealers in fitting four Michelin Pilot Primacy HPs for £450.

Don't worry too much about speed rating. You might find you do not need the top rating. Both these sites explain the rating scale.

please do not make suggestions like this, it is vital that the rating of replacment tyres is the same or better, as is the load index and everything else.If mr insurance man investigates you after an accident and finds the tyres are wrong then you probably lose your insurance.
They are vital safety parts of a car and should not be compromised.

May I just point out that if you have a crash and the insurance company discover that you have tyres with a lower speed rating than required for your car they WILL refuse to pay out. In the same way if you change the wheels and don't inform them they can use this as an excuse also. - (edit - ooops should have read previous post).

The tyre speed rating not only determines it's maximum rated speed but also it's handling qualities at lower speeds.
