Can anyone recommend a good (cheap) source for a replacement wing mirror - just the glass ? I have googled and found a handful of suppliers. Some only supply complete wing mirrors, some do not supply for the W140, and some web sites just don't inspire confidence.

As always, a recommendation from someone on the forum is a much better way to proceed than pot-luck on the web.

Thanks

You can buy stick on ones at Halfords, Parts co and other outlets for £10, the heating demisting part will still work.

I had to get a near side mirror glass last week.
Mine came from from Halfords.
They only had the anti dazzle ones for my model (190E)
Cost about £1.50 & stick on as easy as pie. :D

Partco are a motor factors btw

Thanks. Tried Halfords, no joy for my model. I'm off to find my Yellow Pages, and will try the local motor factors.

Thanks

I think that your car uses mirrors the same as some other cars

Is yours cracked or smashed to pieces, the reason for asking is if it's still in one piece then make a paper template of it and go back to Halfords and see if you can match up a glass;) as Malcolm says there's almost certainly another manufacturer that has the same size.

I use my local factors where I have an account. They will send out a selection to pick from if they are unsure.
One trick would be to take a template off the other side then swap it over (mirror image!!), but that doesn't work with my Coupe as they are different in size and shape.
George.

A very big thank you for all those who posted advice, and to Malcolm for the web links.

I went to a motor factors on a local industrial estate. They ordered me a replacement at £14. I was a little concerned when they handed me a mirror that said it was for a C-Class. However, I checked it against my car and it appeared to be OK. A quick call from the chap dealing with me to the suppliers confirmed the C-CLass and S-CLass mirrors were identical.

The supplied mirror was a stick-on mirror. I was replacing it as the silverbacking to the original was rapidly coming off, and so had a complete surface to which to attach it.

Job done.

Again thank you to all.
