Hi all, I have a '98 C180 W202 whose radiator leaks a lot. It needs replacing and I plan to get a used one from Mercparts in Leeds (Barwick in Elmet) for £50 used.

£20 fitting but funds being tight I'd like to replace it myself. I'd like advice on how hard the procedure is and should a novice DIYer like me go for it.

Its all the headache of going to a mechanic to get it done that I want to save also.

Thx

Rus

2nd hand radiators can be a problem in themselves as you don't know what cooling system maintenance has been conducted on the car it came out of. I would have it professionally cleaned and inspected before installing it. Installation is usually straightforward - no complicated issues. Make sure hoses are good and ensure you use correct coolant additive. A new thermostat would complete a good overall cooling system maintenance.
