I have a 2001 E220 cdi. I am getting a bulb warning every time I put the lights on and the only one's I can see which are not working are the front fogs - could anyone advise the best way to get at these to replace them ?

Thanks

:)

This is a post across from a question about CLK W208 foglight bulb changing:
My Reply in entirety:

"Yes, if it's the same as the 2004 W 209 Avantgarde.
You remove the panels which go inside the wheel arches; some fasteners are accessed from inside the arch, with the wheels turned to give clearance, some are under the bumper. They are those funny snap fastenings with a push-up middle like a plastic peg.
Then the complete fog light is fixed with 2 vertical screws - use a nut spinner from below.
Do not disturb the horizontal screw reached through the grille at the side of the foglight; that's for alighnment with a long screwdriver.
If you're reasonably hands on you won't break anything".

It may not be right for your car but in the absence of other posts I hope it helps.

Many thanks for that David, it was my first post and was beginning to wonder whether it was me...... it sounds so simple when you say you just need to change a bulb or two...then try and find out how to get to them !

I'll give your method a go..thanks again

The fogs shouldn't be able to illuminate the warning until you actually try and use them, so I'd suggest the problem lies elsewhere.

I had corrosion issues on my W210 front fog lights pls take a look at this thread.
The procedure for removing the bulbs is listed in the owners handbook however it is a bit of a pig lying on your back working blind up behind the bumper. If you can get under the car it is much easier to put the wiring connector back on the bulb.

Thank you to everyone that has taken the trouble to respond....

I think Parrot of Doom may have hit the right note, I get the bulb warning as soon as I switch on the lights but the only one's I can see (or can't see) not working are the fogs.... there is possibly a dash light (LHS by temp guage) out - would that do it ??

Anyway, obviously the fogs need attention as well so I'll look at that as well..

Thanks again:D
