Replacing front side light

I tried to remove a blown front side light tonight but what do I do after I have pulled the plug off, do I twist and pull or is it a straight pull, I have tried both with moderate pressure to no avail and I don't want to break anything. To make matters worse it's the offside one so there's not much room to play about. It's an E230 W210.

Thanks.

The side lamp bulb holder is normally just a push fit, they tend to stick slightly due to the heat from the lamp.. twisting and pulling will release it..

I was gonna add on that ..if the holder is hard to get at ,gentle use of a pair of pliers is to be recommended

Push lamp holder forward, against a plastic spring arrangement, then lift rear end from car body. No twisting required. Once the holder is removed from the car, turn bulb to the left and take out. Page 50 Exterior Owner's Manual.

Thanks for the replies, I've tried the gentle persuasion with the pliers, it's loose in the holder as if it's held with a clip, I'll try louwdj's suggestion tomorrow.

I’ve finally done it, it’s a 90 deg anti-clockwise twist, it then pulls out dead easy. :D
