I have just bought a 2000 c200 elegance, it is immaculate apart from a small area of chipping on the wooden plate which holds the switches around the gear selector. I would like to replace this walnut panel and would be grateful if somebody could tell me a) where to get one and b) how big a job it might be. Your advice would be apreciated.

You may be able to get one in a salvage yard . If they have an accident damaged one in .

It is one part of a merc that is rarely damaged in a heavy crash.

Round the gear stick is always ok.

If you can't locate one this way its back to the mb dealer and order it .

Fitting is a simple job.. About half an hour .

Worst part of job is paying the dreaded mb dealer for the part.

Let's know how you get on. Regards LAND-ROVER.

Only one word of caution, beware that depending on the spec of the car some versions have more switches than others.
You could end up with not enough holes (which isn't too bad if you have a steady hand and a jigsaw) but too many could look odd !!
