Hi,
I need to replace the speakers in the back of my E220 124 Saloon.
The existing ones are Pioneer TS126.
There dosn't seem to be a lot about this model on the interweb,,,, so I was wondering if anyone here knows an equivelent that I might consider ?

They are about 120cm / 4 ⅝".

((Am also after a cheap Radio / CD player with Bluetooth / SD / USB/ Aux - any ideas out there ?))

thanks

UPDATE:----->

as you probably knew, the 12cm (not 120cm as initial post !) items are a pig to get hold of,,, but it seems that these 126's were added after marketing !
Mercedes say that the actual speakers for my model are: B66828378.
It seems that this model is 14cm (or 5.5"),,,,, but Mercedes can't get these any more anyway !!!
So - my questions are now:
1/ Are the B66828378 actually 14cm ?
2/ Any idea where I can pick up some reasonable - any brand - 14cm's please ?

Sorry for the mess around - I just assumed that they were factory fitted !

thanks again

I would have a look on ebay! You can narrow your search right down and find exactly what you want. I just bought an original equipment cd head unit for my 210, and wouldn´t hesitate at buying speakers. They´ll be much cheaper than dealer ones and you will probably find brand new boxed ones.

cheers w210,
I have been looking,,,,,, but nothing just at the moment.
It's a shame that I was looking for the wrong thing to start with,,,, am a bit embarrassed to contact the dealers now !

As I say, the 14cm are just as hard to find as 12cm ones (that I now don't need ?!?!).

thanks for your advice,,,,

UPDATE:
My car has oblong fitting holes in the shelf for an adaptertype thing. As far as I can see, there are no other fixing holes. This leads me to believe that the existing adapter was there from new ! If this is so, then I can only fit 12cm items into said adapter.

I contacted my local Mercedes dealer who said that whilst they can't get hold of them any more, the part number is: B66828378 .
I contacted another dealer who has ONE in stock (from 1999 ?!) & the number referes to an item at 14cm diameter ?!

Both these sizes seem difficult to get hold of (trust mercedes to use 'em ?!)

I was rather hoping that someone might be able to give me a definite measurement for the part number please.

Having said that, I don't think anything other than the 12cm item was ever fitted (but don't mind being corrected)

All I want to do is put a pair of cheap (ish) speakers in place of the old ones.

Whilst I don't mind drilling fixing holes in the shelf (If I can get at it) but I don't want to cut the actual speaker hole.

thanks again for reading this.

I can understand you´re reluctant to cut the shelf and the metalwork underneath, but many of these were ordered from the factory without speakers and the dealers fitted them. There are many 124´s out there with modified parcel shelfs and metalwork from fitting Blaupunkt or similar, so I wouldn´t worry too much.
Many customers also bought their own speakers to be fitted.
Saying that, you will probably get away with just enlarging the hole in the parcel shelf if the magnets aren´t too large. The shelf does come out easily, let us know if you´re unsure.
Good luck, Pete.

When you say the shelf comes out easy,,,,, do you mean the actual steel shelf just pops out ?

I'm hoping to pop over to Halfords tomorrow, to see if I can try a couple 'in situ' so to speak,,,,

why do I always pick "ten minute" jobs ?

Thanks again

Sadly not, only the board on the top. You need to remove the rear seat base, pressing the orange buttons and lifting it out. Then take out the headrests, and remove the two screws at the bottom of the seat back and lift it out. Then take out the two c pillar trims, pull off the door seal at the back edge and pop out the clips, then slide them out. The shelf will then come out. You can fit the new speakers to the shelf out of the car and then check they don´t foul any metalwork before refitting.
Not a ten minute job, maybe twenty!
