i am currently restoring a 1984 W123 230E, and i have run into a problem, i took the front suspension off to replace all the bushes and i have put the suspension back on but getting the springs back on is a real problem, i am using standard spring compressors that you clamp onto the springs and just wratchett up to compress the spring. but i cannot get the spring compressed enough to get it back into where it needs to go, i have also tried dropping the wishbone down and inserting the spring and then jacking the wishbone up but the spring does not seem to straighten its self out and the wishbone does not line up with the mountings at the bottom of the engine bay is there a special tool that can be used as ive noticed there is a hole in the engine bay that looks down through the spring when it is sitting correctly in the suspension, any advice would be well recieved as i am now at my witts end! sorry for the long winded post!
