Hi all.
I have a Mercedes E220 Bluetech 2009. The ECU was fried by a local garage years ago. They replaced the ECU but couldn't clone the data. So they used the data from a similar model. It took them 11 months to get the car going. Ever since then, I haven't trusted the car. Anytime it goes wrong I wonder if it's got something to do with the ECU.
Does anyone know how to get the car's ORIGINAL software back on the car. Can I get another ecu virginized from Ebay and then get a Mercedes indy to reprogram it with the original software? Would it mean waiting another 11 months to get it driving again?

This the ECU below.
Also, does anyone know what the numbers mean that I've circled?

Safest bet is through the dealer. Programmed at factory based on vin.
What ECU is it for.
wont be cheap.
ABS module on my W220 failed years ago. Cost was about 2k.

keep us updated and good luck

When you say stuff keeps going wrong with it, what exactly is going wrong with it to make you think it’s the ECU?

My w221 has a cloned ECU (turns out nothing wrong with the original which is in the boot). The local Indy sourced it it from a trusted source (probably a breaker they know) and got a 3rd party to clone it. Whilst the fault was actually a relay, since that was replaced the car has been working flawlessly.

Thanks for the reply. It's a Delphi ECU. The car is so old I don't want to go through the stealer. I'm trying to find a way round that! Lol.

Well the latest problem is that I can't do a regen without having an update to the ECU - according to the icarsoft scanner. Other things like the aircon works when it's idling but not when driving. I've changed all the parts to no avail. Sports mode has stopped working too. I don't mind all the fun and games of working on the car but I can't be sure it's not all due to having the wrong car details on the ECU.
