reset ecu??

Hi

Is it possible to reset the ecu or the instument cluster itself on the e320 cdi 2002 model as mines showing a malfunction but after a diagnostic test its showing no faults.
any help will be much appreciated, Thanks in advance

Hi

Its showing (steering gear oil visit workshop) checked oil its fine also put it on diagnostic and it shod no faults.

by the way i got told by the previous owner that the instrument cluster got replaced by a second hand one so just thinking if the problem could be of that.

yes its quite possible that the fault is logged in the cluster..have u checked with your local dealer a lot of these cars had software updates to eradicate erronious faults..other thing that could cause it is a faulty sensor in the power steering system.. a change of power steering fluid may solve your problem ..the old stuff could be manky

Thanks ill check with the dealer 2mmrw, also il change the power steering oil just incase thats the problem. Just curious if i disconnected the battery for a while will that not reset it back to factory setings??
