Hi i have a Mercedes-Benz C180 Elegance 1997 (R reg).

How do I reset my service light without taking it to the dealers.

Is there a combination of buttons I press. If so what are they??

Thanks in advance

reset service indicator

Turn key to position 2 and immediately press the adjustment button twice within the space of 1 second, within 10 seconds turn the key to 0 position, press and hold adjustment button, turn the key to position 2,keep the button pressed the last service indicator remains in the display,an acoustic signal will sound after 10 seconds, release the button.done. (straight from the book)

Service Indicator light & temprature guage

Hi All,

new to all of this so please excuse me if i have put this inthe worng place..

I know i'm going to seem ignorant...but I have a 1997 C180 Elegance Auto and do not know how to tell what model it is...w202 etc. How do I find out?

Also I need to find out if the used car dealership where i brought my C180 form is fobbing me off by telling me that I do not have a guage for the outside temprature.

And finally....where is the service light indicator? Am i really being silly and not seeing it or do I not have one?

Many Thanks

Chris :)

Hi. the service indicator is at the bottom centre of the instrument cluster, if you press the small button with the 0 on it twice very quickly(Left hand side of the cluster) it will display the mileage left to the next service. The indicator will not light up all the time, only i think when you are 1000miles away from next service interval.
As for the model number you need to access the russian site with your vin number and it will reveal all the original details of your motor, do a search for the link in the forum.
Regards geoff.

Just curious? My VIN starts WDB202. Is that still a W202, and if so what is the difference?

Yes it is a W202 the DB denotes where it was built IIRC
