Restorer needed for South East England

My 1986 Mercedes 500SL, which I have had since 1986 is badly in need of major restoration work. It has rusted very badly.

I need someone to recommend a good garage that will undertake the full restoration work without taking short cuts. Since I live in SE of England would prefer a garage in and around this area. However because I want the best for my car I am willing to consider garages out of my area.

If anyone can suggest one it would be greatly appreciated.

It's actually very easy to find someone to "restore" a car. There are hundreds of places that will do it

However, finding people who know what they are doing, who will cost the work accurately once the scope of the work is known, who will complete it within a reasonable timescale, work to a high standard and whose work will add value to the car is almost impossible

On that basis I'd say John Haynes are one of the very few places that could do it properly

Dear 45145... As it happens I had my 1985 500SL restored last year by John Haynes at Worthing. He's not cheap but the work is first class. Most of the work was body related with some mechanicals .The car looks fantastic and drives really well. Contact me if you would like some details etc.
