Hi everyone

Looking for some advice please if you don't mind.

Had our A180 just over a year now and a maybe 4-6 weeks ago this error message popped up. Having a look around it appears it's fairly common and not a huge issue to resolve but being honest I know nothing about cars really so wouldn't dream of trying anything.

Car was just In for it's service and Mercedes have said it will cost around 170 just to look at it and if takes longer than an hour will cost more. That feels excessive when a quick Google suggests its a common fault. The other thing is it seems a reoccurring issue so don't want to pay to have fixed only for it to happen again in a few months.

Car is due MOT soon so we need to address it soon otherwise will fail due to this.

Anyone any experience with this issue and how did you get it fixed that didn't cost a fortune.

Thanks in advance

Since you know nothing about cars, one would assume you are not a home mechanic.

Could be a sensor, could be a seat belt, could be an airbag.

The 170 merc want is to plug in thier computer which will tell the what needs replacing/diagnosing.

They will then charge additionally based on the above (parts, labour)

Now any reasonable garage will have a scanner for all cars to read the fault code, maybe even a neighbour.

Many here own scanners for this reason, they pay for themselves in one go.

Ps without knowing the fault code, google is not getting you anywhere.
