Hi all,

I've just bought my first Mercedes, an E320 CDI Avantgarde saloon on a 55 plate, a week or so ago (and I absolutely love it - BMWho??). It doesn't have Parktronic installed which is something I am going to address but while the car was in, I was thinking about having COMAND and SatNav added. Is this something worth doing? I've read and heard a few horror stories about some of the more complicated electrical systems in a Merc so I thought I'd ask people's opinions here. Somehow a TomTom attached to my windscreen just doesn't look right...

Thanks in advance for any and all replies.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
I maybe wrong but as yours is a w211 to retro-fit COMMAND can be very expensive, depending on what level of stereo equipment was fitted from new.
If you do a search in the forum there was a post regarding this not so long ago.

As above, if you don't already have the basic satnav then as well as a command console in the dash, you'd need an audio gateway installing in the boot and the loom to make it all work. Done cheap with used parts and mates rates I think you're still looking at over £1k.
A bit heavy when compared to a tomtom which is perfectly ok.
Command is nice, but it's not worth that IMHO.

Replaced an APS 50 in my late 2003 with a 2006 2.5 MOST COMMAND. Really good compared to the APS but I already had Audio Gateway which is important. Command & DVD Rom - Ebay £500. Fibre Optic Lead and Harness £65. £200 Fitting. Note without the Park Sensors you may not have a fixing panel for the DVD Rom in your boot by the fuse box area. - Good Luck
