Retrofit Comand DX - CLK (V reg) W208

Having fitted the Comand centre seems to be working fine but as I progress in finding the ins and outs of the system I've bought a 3rd party GPS which is quoted to be for the A208 Command DX system. Tech info for GPS as follows...,
Voltage 5 v.
Frequency 1575.42 MHZ
Magnetic base
Waterproof 100 %

but so far its not been able to see or aquire any sats, having the Merc user guide for the DX doesn't mention any need to intergrate the GPS so have I missed something. The supplier of the GPS has offered to replace it so I'm of the mind to do that if there's nothing else to do!

lost SATS

None at all, I've re-positioned the GPS a couple of times and after having a Road Angel in my previous car (Company Car - Renault Scenic) which needed a external GPS due to the windscreen blocking out any signal, I've learnt a few things. One was the time it needed to track and verify SATS for my position and as I've spent my journey to and from work ( 30 mins each way) but still none I'm sure its the GPS no working! but there's alway something I've missed?

Its not easy to get technical info for this, I could print out any details of the GPS antenna as fitted to your car as used by the comand

If somebody could just confirm the working voltage and the frequency of a Merc original GPS would be a great help as the one I currently have is as follows...,
