My recently aquired ML270 came with all the extras that I (and the missus) wanted - except dark rear windows.

After doing some research, I found the cheapest quote for a do-it-in-your-driveway job was £180, and the dearest for a fully guaranteed high tech workshop job was £275+vat.

The supposed best quality job was from a firm with a list of top clients. I was told that the result would be virtually indistinguishable from factory spec, and that if I wasn't happy with the result, they would do it again to my satisfaction. I said yes, OK.

The car went in on Thursday and was done with no hitches, except for a number of 'blotches' apparent on most of the windows (between the glass and the film, not air bubbles, but non adhesion I think). I was told that this was due to the cold weather, and they would disappear within a couple of days. It is now Saturday, and although they have mostly gone, I cannot help noticing these marks on the windows.

Can anyone with experience of tinting films please advise me if this is normal? Are there any other issues I should be concerned about?
I don't want to make a fuss without reason, but surely £313 should buy a decent job?

This first started in Sweden, many years ago while I was living there.
The cars that I have seen done with it,not a mark or bubble. It was done in heated workshops by girls. The price you paid is double what they charged, I think that you should take it back, otherwise you will hate it every time you look at it. The process takes about 3 hours when you are skilled to do all the rear side windows of a V70. £300 is high for a more than perfect job.

The cost of the film is around £35 max, I brought some back to try,not easy.

That's confirmation enough for me. If it isn't perfect by Monday it's going back.
I bought a cheap roll to do my last Transit van, and did it myself - the result was OK, but by no means perfect. I guess that's why you pay someone to do it.

why is it that so many 4x4s have their windows blacked out? i can understand why chavs do it (to make their cars look cool (in their eyes) and like their hero "gangsta's" cars), but middle aged housewives in Surrey??

I haven't read that thread  , but a boring answer to the question is, my previous MPV and most 4x4s have a lot of window area. In the summer it is lke being in a greenhouse - have you ever sat in a conservatory with the doors shut on a sunny day?

BTW, the car had a decent run today, and after returning home I checked the windows again - guess what? All clear and no marks. I'm a happy bunny again :) :D

(A woman not answering back? now there would be a first. :p)

Yeah, but at least Benz girl admits to having friends that look less than Greek godlike - could that mean we've all got a chance? ;)
