Hi,

I am not having my cars reverse lights go on. I checked the lamps, OK. What other reason, you think may be?

The switch is on the shift console, it could be a ground prblem but not so common.

Similar problem

This has just started over the weekend.
When putting gear into reverse on my C250 auto the reversing lights do flash on but dont stop on. But if I push the lever forward still in reverse to the stop, the lights stay on? So probably easy to fix I hope? ( Born optimist )

Rechecked this tonight and it only needs a slight pressure on the lever to have the reverse lights come on. Do you think this is going to be the switch or inside the gear lever box? Thanks in advance for any help

You probably have is that the inside of the switch or the gearshift malcolm?
Thought the switch was going to be the little plastic box about the size of a match box on the right hand side of gearshift.

Barry

Also a friend told me the gearshift is a sealed unit is this correct?

Got visions of you sitting surrounded by computers Malcolm. Like Keith Emerson surrounded by organs playing them all at once.:)

Back-up light switch is the reversing lamp switch, the position it is shown confirms that it acts on gear selector lever, as stated in the Haynes manual.

Thanks C220gjs
So I may be lucky and just need to either alter or replace the switch?

I was right with my first answer, its on the shift console

My pictures are LHD I think, if your gear shift is to the right of the WS 1234 plate, then it is the switch on the left with the largest plug. If the gear shift is to the left of the WS 1234 plate then it is the larger one on the right, this is sitting in the drivers seat.

I cant find anything on how you adjust, maybe you can work that out.

According to my manual the switch just clips in and is not adjustable, it is positioned to the rear of the selector lever assembly underneath the centre console switch plate.
