Hi all - Pity my first post has to be a problem but im hoping for some advice.
I own a '97 E280 auto with 72k on clock (service due now). A few weeks ago when engaging reverse i got a vibration through the car which felt as if it was coming from the rear area. I didnt think much of it until i engaged reverse a few weeks later and found i had no drive - none at all, almost as if someone had stolen the gog! I can feel the box go into reverse but when i rev it you would swear you were sat in neutral. Anyway, i have checked the fluid level and found it to be low (too low) and have topped it up. The problem has improved from having no drive too having very slight drive but huge vibration/banging from what feels to be the rear of the car. All forward gears are perfect, although it can hold onto first gear longer than usual when cold in the mornings (although ive put that down to the low fluid).
Any advice really appreciated.
